What make-up should I use for cosplay?

So I'm really new to cosplaying in general, and one of my major problems right now is make-up. I cosplay as Axel (Kingdom Hearts) and Poland (Hetalia). Is there any make-up that you can wear with any cosplay? Or, if you can, tell me what kind of make-up would go with the characters I'm cosplaying as. Also, I was hoping for them to be specific,( like what brand, color, what product I should use, etc. ) but any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated!
