Is it easier to axel stall into a quarter-pipe/half-pipe than to drop in?

I've tried dropping in quite a bit, and I just can't do it. I'm definitely ready for it, i can do quite a few ground tricks and can go down steep flat banks and up quarters. Thinking about it now (sounds silly I know) axel stalling into the quarter sounds a lot easier than dropping in because you don't have to push down as far.
